Dictation:
John was awake. He sat up and listened carefully. There it was again - that snapping, cracking sound. Then, he caught whiff of a strong burning smell. He looked at his badroom door and saw a menacing red glow around its frame. Hastily, John rushed to the door. Using his bedroom slipper, he wrenched open the door only to find bright orange flames engulfing the staircase. The house was on fire! He was trapped!
